Samsung on Wednesday (July 22, 2026) launched the eighth generation of foldable phones including Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 in India. The South Korean company introduced an Ultra variant for the first time in their foldable portfolio. The launch also includes Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 and Watch 9.

These Galaxy Z8 series phones run on One UI 9 based on Android 17 out of the box. Samsung will offer 7 years of OS and 7 years of security updates to the phones.
Samsung said that Indians are using foldables for content consumption, to enhance their productivity with AI and camera.
In terms of design, Samsung has moved to flex titanium plate in the foldable phones.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has an 8 inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display with 2504 x 2256 resolution, 422 ppi, a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness. It uses a 6.5 inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X cover display with 1080 x 2520 resolution, 422 ppi and a 120 Hz adaptive refresh rate.
The book style foldable phone bears 215 grams of weight and is 4.1mm thick in unfoled and 8.9mm in folded state.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is being protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3 on cover and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 at the back.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra ships with a 5,000 mAh battery and supports 45W wired and 20W wireless charging. The phone is IP48 rated for water and dust protection.
The Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 has 1.52 inch Super AMOLED display with 5,000 nits peak brightness. Available in 47mm dial, the Watch Ultra 2 gets 2 GB RAM and 64 GB storage. The Watch Ultra 2 ships with an 800 mAh battery.
The Galaxy Watch 9 has a 1.47 inch Super AMOLED AOD display with 3,000 nits peak brightness. It ships with a 445 mAh battery. It will be available in 40mm and 44mm dials. It also operates and run on the same OS and platform. Galaxy Watch 9 is IP68 rated and bears 5ATM certification.
