The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday (July 14, 2026) arrested Municipal Assistant Engineer posted in Peddapally district while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹2 lakh from a contractor for processing and forwarding a final bill related to a municipal development project.

The agency said the money was sought for official favour — by processing and forwarding the contractor’s final bill for the development of a Hindu graveyard at Tenuguwada and a graveyard at Kunaram Road in Peddapally town. The work, executed under Package IX of the Peddapally Municipality, was valued at ₹12.28 lakh and the bill was to be forwarded to the Telangana Urban Finance and Infrastructure Development Corporation (TUFIDC) for sanction.

According to the ACB, the accused officer, 33-year-old Kallepalli Sathish Kumar, serving as Assistant Engineer in the Peddapally Municipal Office, was trapped by the ACB Karimnagar unit at his residence after he demanded and accepted the bribe from the complainant.

The ACB recovered the tainted bribe amount of ₹2 lakh from the possession of the accused officer. During subsequent searches at his residence, officials also seized ₹32.31 lakh in unaccounted cash.
